Living without a cell phone

I am not much of a talker, especially on the phone, which is weird as i work at a call center. In any case, I don’t really use my cell phone at all. It is more often dead or lost. Plus, the thing is that the only people I ever really call are my partner, family and work. And rarely am I in a place where I do not have wifi. So to say the least, I am getting rid of the cell phone.

Now, don’t get me wrong, i still have a number, but it is a Google Voice number. So people can still call me, text me and leave me a voicemail, and I can call people on my laptop.

In all honestly, if I do get a cell phone again, it is just going to be a really cheap phone, maybe pre-pay or something. I don’t need internet, texting or any other of those extra features that turn something from $30/mo to $100/mo.

The craziest thing that has always bothered me are people who say things like they couldn’t live without their cell phone, or their cellphone with texting and internet and sms and a camera and etc.

All that is nice and dandy, but expensive. Could you live without a cell phone? or at least one without all the bells and whistles?
