Bigotry in Christians

A few days ago, I was reminded that bigotry still exists in my family. The crazy thing is that my own aunt who “claims” to be Christian, commented on an article I shared on Facebook titled “I’m Christian, unless you’re gay” (if you have not read that article before, go check it out, it is very moving.) And she essentially proved the title’s point by stating that I would not enter into heaven.

Not only that, but she also posted on my partner’s wall, and tons of people got truly pissed. I stated she was warping the Bible to suit her personal beliefs, had friends who use verses against her, others stated it was people like her who gave Christianity a bad name and was why Churches are dying. Not only that, there was tons of chats, calls and other messages that Randy and I received from people who could not believe the bigotry in this aunt of mine.

This brings me to my point. Christians are suppose to be like Christ. So how is it that there are those in this world who will call themselves Christians yet in the same breath, show their true anti-Jesus colors? (Remember, even the devil quoted biblical verses against Jesus). How can people call themselves Christians in this day and age and still support things such as bigotry and oppression?
